Here at Welcome we foster a culture of innovation. We constantly question ourselves to see how we can do more with less, how we can improve on existing products and services, how we can create something that could change the industry. And we know it’s up to each and every Welcome member to contribute to that innovation.
So we held our first annual Hackathon to keep that spirit of innovation alive. Our product and engineering teams invited members of our Austin office to participate, and seventeen members from four different departments came and camped out in an Airbnb. They formed their own teams, creating a combination of skills to execute their ideas, and presented the final product at the end of the week.
The five teams came out of it with some incredible ideas and some even better execution. But most of all, we all got to know each other better and discovered some of our team member's hidden talents.
Hack to Engage
Our first Hackathon was a huge success - and the most amazing thing is we can combine a few of these ideas to create another huge, monstrous, game-changing product!
